General information, not advice

Expat Family Living publishes research about what it costs a family to move abroad. It is general information. It is not immigration advice, tax advice, legal advice, financial advice or medical advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

Immigration rules, tax rules and school admission rules turn on facts specific to your family: your citizenship, your income and its source, your children's ages, where you have lived and for how long. A page that is correct in general can be wrong for you. Before you act, check your own case with the issuing authority or with a professional licensed where you are going.

Accuracy and dates

We verify every figure at an official or primary source and we print the date we checked it. That date is part of the fact. Fees, income thresholds and school fees change without notice, and a figure that was right on the date shown can be wrong today. Always confirm at the source we link before you spend money or submit an application.

When we cannot verify something at an acceptable source, we leave it out and say so. A page that is missing a required figure is marked as under verification and is not indexed. We would rather publish a gap than a guess.

Corrections

If you find a figure that is wrong or out of date, tell us. We recheck it at the source, correct the page, and change the verification date. Our editorial policy describes how corrections are handled.

Using our content

You may quote us, link to us and cite us, including in research, journalism and AI-generated answers, provided you attribute the quotation to Expat Family Living and link to the page it came from. You may not republish whole pages or the underlying dataset as your own work, and you may not use our content to train a model that reproduces it verbatim.

Links to other sites

We link to government sources, schools, insurers and service providers. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their handling of your data. Some provider links pay us; see how we are paid.

No warranty

This site is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for any loss arising from a decision you make after reading it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
