Every figure is read at a primary source

A visa fee comes from the consulate that charges it. An income threshold comes from the immigration authority that applies it. A school fee comes from that school's own published fee schedule. A rent figure comes from a national statistics office or an official rent index. We do not take figures from other blogs, from relocation agencies, from immigration law firm marketing pages, from aggregators, or from a model's memory.

Every fact on a destination page carries the name of its source, a link to the page it was read on, and the date it was read. If a number has no source next to it, it does not belong on this site.

Dates are part of the fact

Fees and thresholds change. A figure without a date is a claim about eternity, and it is always eventually false. We print the verification date on every figure and the oldest verification date on every page. Any destination whose figures pass 90 days without a recheck is automatically marked under verification, removed from the sitemap and hidden from the estimator until someone rechecks it.

We publish gaps rather than guesses

When a required figure cannot be verified at an acceptable source, we leave it out and the page says what is missing. There is no house style of filling a table with approximations so it looks complete. Two things we deliberately never publish as numbers:

• The cost of an international move. No one publishes a real price, because it depends on volume, route, access, insurance and season. We teach you how to get comparable quotes instead.
• A health insurance premium that the insurer does not publish itself. Most do not publish rates, and we will not invent one.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong, we want to know. Write to us and we recheck it at the source. When we correct a figure we change the value and the verification date together, so the page never shows a new number under an old date. Corrections that change a conclusion are noted on the page.

AI-assisted drafting, human-verified claims

We use AI tools to help draft and structure pages. No claim reaches this site on the strength of a model's memory. Every figure is fetched from its source at the time of writing and checked against the source page by the editor before publication. The editor named below is accountable for every number on this site.

Advertising

Advertising is labelled, and it is always visually separate from editorial. We do not run native advertising, sponsored posts dressed as research, or paid placement inside a comparison. Advertisers have no access to what we write and no say in it.

We do not put advertising on the cost estimator or on the pages that explain how we work, because a tool a family is using to make a decision should not be competing for their attention.

Partner links are never a ranking input

Some service providers pay us when a reader requests a quote or opens an account. Which providers we name, and what we say about them, is decided before any commercial arrangement is considered, and it does not change afterwards. When we name a provider that does not pay us, we name it anyway. When a provider that pays us will not publish its prices, we say that too. How we are paid lists the arrangements.

What we will not do

• Invent credentials, or imply lived experience we do not have.
• Publish a "best countries" ranking driven by which providers pay us.
• Split an article across pages to manufacture pageviews.
• Describe ourselves as independent. We take money from advertising and from partners, and the honest claim is that our figures are verifiable, which you can check yourself.
